TO: - Veterans of all Wars - Wings of Freedom Veterans Coffee Club Members - Supporters of Veterans and those still in services
I want to thank you for helping make the Wings of Freedom Showcase and Project a success! We are growing every day and enjoying meeting all of you!
Thanks to many of you, The Veterans Coffee Club 2nd anniversary party was wonderful. We had a full house and we are thankful that each of you attended; those who could not were in our thoughts.
Bob, Virginia and Ralph all helped in making it happen, thank you. Each of you did your part to make it enjoyable for all. Thank you Syble for being a gracious host and checking in all the guests. Chuck, you are just a wonderful help, you get right in there and do what ever needs to be done. Marty & John we missed you!
I want to especially thank the entertainment. Wow, it was wonderful! Bill Lilly and his fabulous Accordion player set the stage for a celebration, it was perfect! I had forgotten how festive an accordion sounded. Alan Delay, thank you for playing your "Saw". I never knew a "saw" could make such beautiful sounds. Of Course, the "2 Sisters Trio" will not be forgotten and we appreciate them stopping by to do a quick song. The Bomber Catering Co. and our efficient server Stevie-Thank you! All these folks and more made the first Wings of Freedom Coffee Club party a huge success and we want to give you our sincere thanks!
MISSION UPDATE: It's time for a new exhibit in the Showcase and a wonderful suggestion was brought forth at the January Coffee Club. The Wings of Freedom Showcase will feature the Veterans Coffee Club Members using their own collections! Each member who has items from their service will put them together to be on exhibit in the showcase for 2005. Items can be donated when done or returned to individuals or their family. Exhibits should have the following:
- Items must be clearly marked with address and return information.
- Answer these questions: Who wore or used the items? What line of duty? The story behind how or what the items stands for, what they are called and how they were used? Pictures need names if possible.
- Each "story" should be self-contained, on a board, in a shadow box, picture frame or other means to display it well. If it's a piece of equipment or an item that is not able to be put in a frame, mark it well and have a description to accompany it. If you need assistance call me @ 503-654-6491.
I am excited about this exhibit. With the wide variety of members from different service it will be educational for many. This exhibit will give "All" Veterans a chance to share, and compliment our desire to "share personal stories".
This exhibit will open March 1, 2005 so bring in your "story" ASAP or on February 4th. Call me @503-654-6491 if you have questions.
